Euphonia hirundinacea: Observaciones reproductivas en las Altas Montañas, Veracruz, México

Resumen


El estudio de la biología reproductiva de las aves permite predecir e identificar especies susceptibles a un mayor riesgo de extinción o llevar a cabo manejo de poblaciones con fines de conservación. Es importante documentar las características de las historias de vida, ya que para muchas especies neotropicales es incompleta. La eufonia garganta amarilla (Euphonia hirundinacea) es un fringílido común y ampliamente distribuido en el neotrópico mexicano, sin embargo, existe poca información sobre su historia de vida y sitios de anidación en el país. En este estudio aportamos información sobre la biología reproductiva y sitios de anidación de la especie en la región de las Altas Montañas de Veracruz. Además, registramos por primera vez la construcción de un nido sobre un sustrato artificial.
